[Everyview Doubleshot: Music Review] Wilco (The Album)

wilcothealbumWe’re trying something new here on Everyview, and if you think past reviews have been too long, you haven’t seen anything yet.

Contributors Clay Cunningham and Andrew Majors are both avid Wilco fans, and both wanted to review the band’s latest, “Wilco (The Album),” and were both too petty to just let the other one have it. So, what we’ve done is combined them into the first ever “Everyview Doubleshot,” a format we basically stole from our friends at we-rate-stuff.

So while it may be pointless to essentially run the same review from two different vantage points, both contributors clearly feel very strongly about this new work and have several varied reasons why you should check it out. And if reading both reviews  simultaneously seems to be too daunting a task, feel free to take a break and come back at a later time. Our stats look better that way. Continue reading

[Movie Review] The Brothers Bloom (Theatrical)

thebrothersbloomOverview:

The Brothers Bloom is an incredibly enjoyable film that centers on two brothers and their exploits across the globe, as they swindle anyone who comes near them, to great success.

Review:

I generally get excited about movies like this, and this was no exception. It has a stellar cast, intriguing director, and happens to be from a genre I love. Heist movies, movies about con artists, for some reason, always appeal to me. The trailer looked quirky, but still real world, and the movie hits a home run from start to finish. Continue reading

[Drink Review] Private Selection Sparkling Lemon Soda

pslemonsparklingsodaOverview:

Those of you who know me exclusively through my reviews here on Everyview may not be able to tell, but I am very elegant. I have very high class tastes that can be satisfied only by the finest tobaccos and rarest wines. The tobacco must be smoked out of nothing less than pipes carved from ostrich bones and the wine is only to be sampled from diamond cups crafted by the most skilled jewelers in the world.

Enter Private Selection Sparkling Soda. It’s expensive and comes in a weird-looking glass bottle, but does it tickle my prestige? Continue reading

[The Everyview Update] 6/28/09

We’ve got a couple of new features to announce this week. Some of you may have noticed that we have incorporated a rating system of 5 stars at the bottom of each post. These stars ARE NOT our scores. The stars are there for you to rate each article, whether it be an editorial, news, or a review, and help give us some extra feedback so we can figure out what you like to read.

Also, we have brought back the categories section. Pick what you want to read about in the list of categories to the left, click it, and see only posts that fall under that topic. We did this because we know not every movie buff cares about the latest game releases, and not every energy drink addict cares about the latest CDs.

I’d also like to remind all registered members to upload a custom photo through their Everyview dashboard.

Special thanks to GoNintendo for featuring our The Conduit review and pushing traffic!

[Movie News] The Last Airbender Features All White Cast

In 2007, Nickelodeon announced they’d have M. Night Shyamalan write, direct and produce a trilogy based on the T.V. series “Avatar: The Last Airbender.” Unfortunately, due to copyright issues the movie is simply called “The Last Airbender.” The teaser trailer for the first movie came out with Transformers 2 (which according to critics was an abomination), so I’ve gone ahead and shoved it in here for you. Yes, I know. You’re welcome.

Apparently there’s been some kind of controversy about the whole cast being of the Caucasian persuasion, with some fans accusing the creators of being racist. I’m not going to say those people are just looking for something to whine about… but they are. Continue reading

[Music Review] The Mars Volta “Octahedron”

Music Review Mars VoltaOverview:

Since their inception, The Mars Volta have proven to be one of the more conflicting bands of the modern era. After splitting up underground punk heroes At The Drive-In, principal musicians Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez kicked off TMV’s career with 2003’s sprawling masterpiece “De-Loused in the Comatorium,” only to follow it with 2005’s “Frances The Mute,” a self-congratulatory piece of shit made by people who were far too pleased with their own “unique” vision. The albums that followed, 2006’s “Amputechture” and last years “The Bedlam in Goliath” fell somewhere in between. They possessed moments of genuine inspiration, but didn’t possess the overall charm of the band’s debut. Continue reading

[Movie News] Star Trek DVD and Blu-Ray Bonus Content Revealed

poster_startrek-posterAnd man is it insane. There is seriously a (space)ship load of extra content planned to release alongside the “Star Trek” DVD/Blu-Ray which is tentatively scheduled for an October 5th release date. But tentative dates rarely stick, so just keep an eye out for the date to change.

To see the full list of extra content included in the package, click the ‘more…’ button. The list is far too long to include on the front page. Continue reading

[Movie News] Oscar’s Expand Best Picture Nominees From 5 to 10

The OscarsFucking stupid.

Even the biggest of movie buffs hate the Oscars due to the fact they are tortuously dull, so who in the bloody fuck thinks it’s a good idea to not only increase the Best Picture Nominees, but to double them and make the awful program even longer? I’m sure a lot of this has to do with the Best Picture snubbing of “The Dark Night” last year, but seriously, even if this does increase the chances for blockbuster movies, like “Star Trek” or Andrew Majors’ favorite film “Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen” to get nominated, it doesn’t actually much improve their chances of winning. Continue reading
