[The Everyview Update] 11/08/09

Hey guys, I hope everyone is participating fully in No-Shave November. I enthusiastically skipped out on my monthly shave just to celebrate, and it feels good. My neck/double chin area now has about as much hair as a 12 year-old  kid’s genitalia, and the ladies are loving it!

Aside from that, there weren’t any real changes or updates this week. However today is the last day we can accept entries into our Starbucks Giveaway, so make sure you head on over to the contest page and get your booty signed up!

[The Everyview Update] 10/25/2009

Not much to talk about this week at all. In fact, I don’t think we’ve undergone a single update here on the site. Luckily, though, I do have one announcement to make that should get some of you pretty excited. Tomorrow we will begin hosting a brand new contest. Rules and all that jazz have yet to be finalized, and prizes are remaining a secret until tomorrow.

Sleep tight, Everyviewers. Rust thine angelic heads softly upon thine pillows. And try not to die in your sleep, that would really suck.

[The Everyview Update] 10/17/2009

Short list of updates this week, and nothing really worth talking about. We finally got Google Ads running on the site again, so make sure you click them whenever you get the chance to help support us. I don’t know if anyone has noticed, but we also started using the Amazon Affiliates program, and therefore put links at the bottom of some reviews that direct you to Amazon so you can buy the product we reviewed if you want.

Some upcoming reviews include Mini Chill Relaxation Shots, Encaff Energy Stix, Paranormal Activity, and a Wii game called Deadly Creatures. Of course, those are just what we have planned, and there are many more reviews that we’ll do this week, but you can look forward to those for sure.

That about wraps things up, have an excellent Sunday everyone, see you tomorrow. And as always, keep reading Everyview!

[New Writer] Erin Brooks

A few days ago I wrote my first review for Everyview as a guest. I enjoyed writing the in-depth review so much that Zac offered me a place here! I was honored! I have a little blog of my own where I get more personal about my life, but I couldn’t pass up this chance to be a part of the Everyview clan.

For those of you who don’t know me I am Erin Brooks, a 27 year old loyal house wife (by loyal I mean I watch Monday Night RAW for my husband when he is stuck at work and give him the lowdown), mother to 3 crazy cats, an artist, a baker and so much more. I have a love of entertainment, books and Sci-Fi.

Around here I am going to be informing you guys on TV shows, movies and books! I am always open to suggestions if you guys really want me to check something out!

Anyway that’s me!

Thanks you again Zac for this opportunity!

[The Everyview Update] 10/04/09: Happy Fall!

Let me start off by apologizing for this edition of Everyview Update being so later (I’m actually writing it on the morning of the 5th), but like all responsible people I have an excuse. Last night Brandon Majors and I went on an Everyview date to the movie theater to catch Zombieland! By the time I got back I was too busy quoting Woody Harrelson to care about anything else, which is completely understandable.

That brings me to my next two points. First off, we got two new writers! John Rogers and Brandon Majors will now be writing for you guys here on the site, and I hope you like what they bring to the table. Along those same lines, we also got a Guest Review for the premiere of Stargate Universe from the very talented Erin Brooks.

My next point. Now that it’s finally Fall, we are going to start publishing some Halloween-themed reviews and articles. These will range from Top Five lists to reviews for scary movies and games and everything in between! We’ve got a lot planned, and I hope you enjoy the Autumn Content!

Enough jabber, onto the awards! The Weekly Awards are handed out to five very deserving blogs every week, so make sure you check them all out because they are all fantastic and more than worth your time.

  • The “Quick, Free Stuff!” Award goes to Snack Snoop! They’re giving away a fancy reusable bag to the reader with the best snack recipe.
  • The “Best New Feature” Award goes to SuperPhillip Central for the new feature called Rank Up! The premier installment lists the eight Mega Man X games from worst to best.
  • The “Fanciest Pants” Award goes to The Impulsive Buy for their review of Goya Cola Champagne!
  • The “Holy Shit, Caffeinated Beef Jerky?” Award goes to EDJunkie for the review of Perky Jerky! According to that review, the caffeinated beef jerky is actually really good.
  • The “Deep Fried Breakfast Sammich” Award goes to Freezer Burns for the video review of a Jimmy Dean’s Breakfast Sandwich, deep fried in Budweiser American Ale.

[New Writer] Brandon Majors (No Relation to Andrew)

Alright Everyview, new writer on deck. My name is Brandon Majors (no relation to Andrew) and I am in no way related to Andrew. To the best of my knowledge anyway. I work at a cafeteria called MCL, which is pretty much the mecca of Terre Haute dining, albeit overpriced and offering basically the same foods displayed in different orders. I’m a freshman at Ivy Tech Community College for right now, but I’m hoping to be at IU next year. So there we have the two major time consumers in my life.

I think next on my introduction list should be “about me.” I’m a Scorpio, I love Punk music, long walks on the beach, and a girl who can cook a nice dinner… but seriously, I’m pretty simple. Punk and Ska music are my genre’s of choice, but I have a broad range when it comes to music. I skate when  I have the time, and I’m a big fan of Kustom Kulture (50’s and earlier cars, rockabilly music, pin-up’s and what have you). I like old cars, a lot. My current project is a ’68 mustang, but due to being poor and in college I have little time to work on it or do much of anything with it. I play a lot of them there vidya games, mostly Xbox 360, but I spend some quality time on the Wii when I have the chance.

That about sum’s things up for me, just a run of the mill Hautian who spends way to much time on the internet or on the trusty Xbox 360. Working with Everyview will hopefully give me a new hobby to pour massive amounts of time into, and most likely money, but I wont be writing any checks out just yet. (Sorry Zac!)

[New Writer] John Rogers

Before I do anything else, I would like to introduce myself to the Everyview readers. My name is John Rogers, I am a sophomore at North Vigo High School, in Terre Haute, Indiana. I’ve spent my entire life living in The Haute, a town known for its pungent smell and scandalous politicians. But despite my home town’s shortcomings I would like to think I am a very fair and balanced person.

I have a deep interest in video games, fast food, zombies, and technology. I spend ridiculous, and probably unhealthy, amounts of time reading articles about the newest and hottest things in the market. I have been a major gamer since I was 6 years old and got my first Gameboy Color (special Pikachu edition no less!) and love getting lost in a brand new video game. I have been a musician for the last 3 years of my life, fiddling with various instruments before settling in with the bass guitar. After playing in the band Situs for almost a year, I have started a new band called Before The Daybreak with my brother. If you want to check out some music you can find us at myspace.com/beforethedaybreak. I will listen to almost any kind of music, everything from The Beatles, to Metallica, and just about everything in between.

I hope when you read my articles, that you will read them as you would any other professional article on the web. I take pride in my writing and promise that I will do my best to be accurate and fair with my reviews. I will make sure to encompass a broad variety of different products, from the newest video games to delicious fast food items. I’m totally psyched to begin writing for Everyview, so in the great words of a certain, infamous Dwarf Paladin, let’s do this!

[The Everyview Update] 09/27/09 – New Layout, We Need More Writers

Don’t be deceived by the slick, professional new look of the site, we’re still the same incompetent morons we were three days ago, we are just more handsome.

Anyway, it may take a little while getting used to the new layout of the site, but it is 100 times better than the old one. We still have the feature posts section, but it has been cut down to show only four posts instead of ten. The categories are at the top of the page now, so you can get to your topic of choice much more quickly now. And once there, you’ll notice that Category pages are displayed just like the front page, only without the sliding feature posts section. You’ll notice there is now only one sidebar making much more room for the articles so reading no longer feels cramped. We’re still getting used to everything as well, so some things may seems a little sloppy right now, but we’ll get everything going 100% here in about a week.

Just don’t be shy, click around and explore the site until you learn how to navigate, though I’m sure you’ll find it’s much easier to get around with the new layout than ever before.

Also on the agenda is a problem that has plagued Everyview since its birth. We need more writers. Three core writers and a couple of contributors aren’t enough to cover everything we want to, so we are opening our doors to any capable writers who want to join our team. It’s purely volunteer, but lots of people will be able to read your work and writing is the best outlet for creativity. We are primarily looking for writers to review books, games, and tech, but if we’ll take anything. As long as you’re at least a decent and entertaining writer, we’d love to have you! Send us an email to let us know if you’re interested!

That about sums up this week’s updates! Since we only post dry, boring updates on Sundays, check out the Weekly Awards, which we hand out to entertaining and awesome blogs that you should be reading!

There you have it! This week’s Update closes to an end. As always, keep reading Everyview!
