About John Rogers

I love video games, music, and fast food.

[Game Review] Dead Space (Xbox 360)

deadspaceboxSystem: Xbox 360 (Also on PS3, PC)
Developer: Visceral Games
Publisher: Electronic Arts
Genre: Action/Horror

It’s Halloween, and that means it’s time to go to a haunted house or two, go trick or treating, and play scary video games. There are a lot of games out there that try to scare you, and a lot (if not most) of them suck.  Dead Space on the other hand, is one of the few games that manages to do this all too well.

This survival horror game for the Xbox 360 was released in October of last year, and received mostly overwhelmingly positive feedback. You may have already read Zac’s review of the prequel on the Nintendo Wii. If you haven’t, check it out here. Considering that it’s been a whole year, you might be wondering “Is it it still worth playing?” You bet your sweaty buttocks it is. If you want a game that will get your heart pounding, your jaw dropping, and your pants soaked, look no further. Continue reading

[Doubleshot Movie Review] Paranormal Activity (Theatrical)

It isn’t too often that a low-budget independent film gets the amount of hype and sees the amount of success Paranormal Activity has found. After its premier and its initial positive impressions as well as a few shots of audience reactions the internet film whores began building a hype train that no one could stop. An online feature that allowed people around America to “Demand” the film be brought near them showed staggering results, and as a result the movie is now playing in theaters nation-wide.

Unable to resist the hype, both Zac Pritcher and John Rogers decide to spend their hard earned money on a trip to local cinema to see if it’s worth all it has been cut out to be. Continue reading

[Music Review] Kid Cudi “Man On The Moon: The End Of Day”

Overview:

It’s a very rare occasion when I sit down and listen to an album several times through the way I did with Kid Cudi’s most recent CD. I usually find that I like one song from an album, and don’t really care much for the other tracks. However, after spending many hours listening to “Man On The Moon” I find myself deeply impressed by the album’s well made beats, intriguing lyrics, and creative concept. Continue reading

[Drink Review] McDonald’s Iced Mocha

Overview:

I remember as a child I would always ask myself the same question every day. Why the hell do my parents like coffee so much? It was bitter, hot, and brown.

I was sure at the time that I hated it. It was a legitimate decision. I was young, naive, and had never experienced the amazing taste of an iced mocha.

Today I take a look at the new Iced Mocha, offered in the recently created McDonald’s “McCafe”. Continue reading

[Game Review] Doom (Xbox Live Arcade)

Some people may know about the Doom franchise because of the dreadful 2005 movie that was based roughly on the game series. Others might be more familiar with Doom 3 for the original Xbox, which garnered critical acclaim for its impressive graphics and scary atmosphere. But if you’re like me, you love the original Doom from 1993. Doom has been on the Xbox Live Marketplace for quite a while now, since 2006, but with Halloween coming up I think it’s only appropriate to pay homage to one of the most downright brutal games of the 90’s. [TV Review] The Cleveland Show Premiere

The Cleveland Show has received a lot of hype. It was even mentioned in an episode of Family Guy by Cleveland himself. The pilot episode premiered September 27th on Fox network, and was watched by approximately 9.42 million viewers. That’s a good number of people, but I’m willing to wager that most of them were disappointed, much like myself. Continue reading

[New Writer] John Rogers

Before I do anything else, I would like to introduce myself to the Everyview readers. My name is John Rogers, I am a sophomore at North Vigo High School, in Terre Haute, Indiana. I’ve spent my entire life living in The Haute, a town known for its pungent smell and scandalous politicians. But despite my home town’s shortcomings I would like to think I am a very fair and balanced person.

I have a deep interest in video games, fast food, zombies, and technology. I spend ridiculous, and probably unhealthy, amounts of time reading articles about the newest and hottest things in the market. I have been a major gamer since I was 6 years old and got my first Gameboy Color (special Pikachu edition no less!) and love getting lost in a brand new video game. I have been a musician for the last 3 years of my life, fiddling with various instruments before settling in with the bass guitar. After playing in the band Situs for almost a year, I have started a new band called Before The Daybreak with my brother. If you want to check out some music you can find us at myspace.com/beforethedaybreak. I will listen to almost any kind of music, everything from The Beatles, to Metallica, and just about everything in between.

I hope when you read my articles, that you will read them as you would any other professional article on the web. I take pride in my writing and promise that I will do my best to be accurate and fair with my reviews. I will make sure to encompass a broad variety of different products, from the newest video games to delicious fast food items. I’m totally psyched to begin writing for Everyview, so in the great words of a certain, infamous Dwarf Paladin, let’s do this!
