[Concert Review] Wilco: Live At Coveleski Stadium

Disclaimer:

This review originally ran as a post on “Man Walks On The Moon…Again,” my ill-conceived attempt at running my own blog. Seeing as how that required actually work, I’ve decided to take the easy way out by returning to Everyview, so as to have the pleasure of working under the thumb of 14-year-old dictator Zac Pritcher.

So even though this concert was a week ago, and we already ran a Wilco live review over a year ago, I’m posting it, because it was awesome, and my opinions deserve to be heard, dammit.

So, anyway… Continue reading

[Music Review] Portugal. The Man “The Satanic Satanist”

portugal.theman satanicsatanistOverview:

I go through these phases where I discover wonderful bands at a breakneck pace, and then I sort of toil around for a bit waiting to see which of the bands will self-destruct, which will find mainstream success, or which ones will put out great music for years to come. Lucky for me I’m in one of my discovery phases right now, and one of the new bands I’ve uncovered for my listening pleasure is Portugal. The Man.

Portugal. The Man definitely and unquestionably have an interesting band name. The name has a background that involves David Bowie and a planned book by one of the band’s members, and it’s obviously an attention grabbing name. I’m actually still a little puzzled as to what it actually means. Continue reading

[Everyview Doubleshot: Music Review] Wilco (The Album)

wilcothealbumWe’re trying something new here on Everyview, and if you think past reviews have been too long, you haven’t seen anything yet.

Contributors Clay Cunningham and Andrew Majors are both avid Wilco fans, and both wanted to review the band’s latest, “Wilco (The Album),” and were both too petty to just let the other one have it. So, what we’ve done is combined them into the first ever “Everyview Doubleshot,” a format we basically stole from our friends at we-rate-stuff.

So while it may be pointless to essentially run the same review from two different vantage points, both contributors clearly feel very strongly about this new work and have several varied reasons why you should check it out. And if reading both reviews  simultaneously seems to be too daunting a task, feel free to take a break and come back at a later time. Our stats look better that way. Continue reading

Music News: Wilco Album Stream Taken Down

Two days ago, I wrote a brief piece leaving a link where readers could stream the new Wilco album, “Wilco (The Album)” for free on the bands website and promised a review in the coming days. Sadly, a little more than 24 hours after I made the post, the stream was deleted. Why, I do not know, but what I do know is that it is no longer there.

If anything changes and the album reappears, I will repost the information. But I do know there were at least three people who were interested in the stream, so to you and anyone else who clicked on the link expecting free Wilco goodness, only to find nothing of value at all, I am sorry.

Music News: Stream the New Wilco Album Online

A few weeks ago, we ran a review of live show by Alt-rockers Wilco. For those of you craving new studio material prior to the June 30th release of their seventh studio album, simply titled “Wilco (The Album),” you can stream the new material for free on the band’s official site. I will attempt to give a few listens and post an official review sometime by the end of the week. wilco

Wilco: Live in Bloomington, IN (Review)

Overview:

wilcoDescribing Alternative/Rock/Kind-of Country-ish band Wilco to someone who has never listened to them can prove to be quite the difficult task, as I found out when my Nickelback listening co-workers replied to me that they had never so much as heard of the fantastic Chicago-based band.  They aren’t exactly a “radio-friendly” band, especially in my area. But, over the last number of years, Wilco has been gaining quite a semi-underground following as a groovy band that produces original and award-winning music.  And on April 16th, 2009, I was given the opportunity to watch this band perform live, and I have to be honest when I say that they put on a very enjoyable show.
