Review: Gears of War 2 (Xbox 360)

gears of war 2
Overview:

Well here yah go, one of the most anticipated games to come out this year. As you all know, Gears of War came out as probably the most memorable next-gen games back in 2006. I mean i was pretty excited for it. Gears of war continues the story in the trilogy and follows Marcus Fenix into the clutches of the intrepid Locust. I’m not very passionate about most 3rd person games save Mass Effect, but the game delivers. Continue reading

Review: Spore Origins (iPhone)

Spore Origins

Overview:

Here is a game from the Application Store on the iPhone that caught my eye. I haven’t been too impressed with most of the games that have came out on the application store so far but this one isn’t bad. As most of you know Spore has been one of the most anticipated computer games from Will Wrights’ library for almost 8 years now and it’s finally out. Well for the iPhone they did kind of a dumbed down version which only includes a small stage of the game where you evolve as a cell. But what more could we ask for from an iPhone.

Review: iPhone 3G

Well its long over due but here it is. The iPhone 3G review. I got it what, like more than 2 months ago?

iPhoneOverview:

As everyone knows, the iPhone 3G is probably the worlds most famous smartphone currently available. It is held on the AT&T service, designed by Apple in California. The 8GB version runs for $199 and the 16GB version runs for $299. There are many features that the iPhone supports that come as a standard for most mainstream smartphones. The phone supports multi-touch touchscreen capabilities, obvious 3G support, 2.0 Megapixel camera without video recording, GPS, web browser, wifi, Bluetooth, and email support. Oh, and you get the application store for free.

Review: Van Helsing (2004)

Overview:

I was told about two weeks ago to write a review that is Halloween oriented. Well I pondered over it and found nothing, but on a lonely Saturday night with nothing to do and no where to go, I turned on the T.V. and bam! Van Helsing. This movie has everything going for it concerning Halloween too bad I’m a little late. With the story set in the time frame of all the original baddies of horror, such as Dracula, Frankenstein, and Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde.

Story:

Written and Directed by Stephen Sommers, the story presented is amazingly detailed. Van Helsing is based off of the character Abraham Van Helsing from Bram Stokers novel Dracula. The story begins with a black and white intro involving the late Dr. Frankenstein and his life’s work, along with Dracula and his bride trying to obtain something. This intro is meant to confuse you and wrap you into the story. Following the intro, you meet Van Helsing (Jackman) and start to understand his character. He is a sort of monster hunter for the Knights of the Holy Order. He kills Mr. Hyde in Paris and returns to the Vatican for his next mission.

Naughty Counting

Here is an old video by Lemon Demon that I was showed to by Zac’s girlfriend a while ago. It’s really juvenile, but for some reason or another I just find it extremely funny every time I watch it. It won’t be very hard for you to understand whats going on in the video, but just don’t your let children watch this Sesame Street. Happy $%&#*ing!

Review: FarCry 2

Overview:

Finally, after a long wait since last October when I discovered this game and its first trailer, its out! FarCry 2 is a very ambitious game with a simple idea that really hasn’t ever been approached in games, an African setting, and an open world first person shooter. FarCry started the series in 2004 in a tropical setting with a pseudo-open world, which had never really been touched before. Now multiple games are set in tropical paradises and the awesome quality that these games try to push seems somewhat dated. When Ubisoft Montreal took the game into their hands they felt they needed a new environment and continue the revolution that the first FarCry started with its own setting.

Leprechaun in Alabama?

Before my anticipated review on Far Cry 2, a couple of my friends showed me a video from YouTube. Some citizens in Mobile, Alabama believe to have seen a Leprechaun. As outlandish as this seems you will just have to make your own opinion from the video. As far as I am concerned this looks like a plea for help from people without much to do. While watching the video keep your eyes peeled for the amateur sketch and the magic flute.

Far Cry 2: Tip of the Iceberg

As Zac hinted, I have chosen my most anticipated game,Far Cry 2, for the topic of my first post. I wouldn’t quite consider this a preview, just an introduction into what the game has to offer. As I have been limited to only one video to show, I have chosen this one for how it shows many of the games features such as fire propogation, wind effects, and unscripted AI. Note some of the things that Clint Hawking, Creative Director of Far Cry 2, says while watching. Expect a Review in the near future, but not before October 21(and because of the depth of the game a while after that!).

Greetings…

Hi, I guess it’s my job to introduce myself to the site before anything else. My name is Patrick O’Brien, or P-Twak for some unknown reason. I am a contributor to the site to help Zac with adding posts and helping to keep the sites namesake true. But a little about myself before I start posting. I’m going to college for dentistry and i mostly enjoy things in entertainment such as video games, movies, and television. I also appreciate activities such as skateboarding and soccer.

Well, now that you know a concise description of me you’ll expect to know what my posts will contain.
