Remember when Weezer used to be awesome? Remember The Blue Album, and how it may still be the best pop record of the past 20 years and how they’ve never been able to come anywhere near topping it? Well, instead of trying to do so, apparently the band has decided to do this.
I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for Rivers Cuomo and his ironic uncoolness, but this; this is a bit much.
Where was the appalling news?
I personally found the release of the Weezer snuggie to be appalling.

This is dumb.
Primus has been doing the ironic uncoolness for far longer, and at a much higher success rate.
I hate saying a band has “sold out”. But Weezer did, right after The Green Album. They went from making fun, catchy pop-rock to making cliched, tacky, 100% Radio Friendly pop-rock. But, they probably are enjoying swimming in their mounds of cash, so whatever.
