[Tech Review] iPhone 4

It’s finally here!  Following a few mental debates about whether or not to stick with Apple I decided to go with an iPhone 4 as my new choice in mobile devices, and I am not disappointed at all! After having the iPhone 3G for two years I was definitely ready for an upgrade. To say the least, the iPhone 3G has its flaws and, minor though they are, I was really starting to get sick of them. The iPhone 4 improves on almost every aspect and I’m going to share a few of these new features.

All New Design

The iPhone 4 has been redesigned and looks smoother than shit. Two flat pieces of Glass sandwiched with an aluminum band going along the outside, not too far away from an ice cream sandwich in design. Not only that but it’s all been remade. Supposedly the glass that’s on the front and back of the new phone are made of glass almost as hard as sapphire and 30 times harder than plastic. Apparently Zeus makes it in Mt. Olympia. Apple has replaced the metal rocker volume button for two stand alone buttons. The home and sleep button are better and the phone just feels great in your hands, very premium quality.

Features

As you might have heard, the iPhone 4 has a new screen which houses an impressive amount of pixels; the density is 326 pixels per inch. Its amazing, to be blunt, and you can really tell how sharp the picture quality is when you put an older iPhone next to it. There is a new camera on the back which is a 5 megapixel and is also capable of HD video, full 720p at 30 frames per second. There is a front facing camera that is for video conferencing which I have not had the privilege of trying because it is limited to Wi-Fi and only from iPhone 4 to iPhone 4.

The multitasking is extremely useful to quick switch apps, and it works really well. Apple’s A4 processing chip is put to great use, this phone is snappy and there is no lag at all between menus and everything loads very quick. This is probably my biggest complaint on the iPhone 3G — it was really slow.  Not to mention with iOS 4 they add over 100 different new additions to the capabilities of the phone.

Bottom Line

This is a great phone and I haven’t had any problems with it at all. It’s fast, has great multimedia capabilities and many new features with iOS 4, and the build quality is top of the line. Some people have said that they are having problems with the external band being the antenna, but I bought a bumper and haven’t had any problems at all. So if you like really premium phones check out the iPhone 4!

Score: 9.0/10 (Outstanding)
