[Movies] Pat’s Top Ten Movies So Far…

10. Shoalin Soccer
Quite an unorthodox movie to put on a favorites list. As a soccer player though, this movie is very funny to me in a lot of ways. Relatively unknown by most people, this movie has a pretty funny story.

9. Twelve Monkeys
Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt perform admirably in this post-apocalyptic world that has a distorted time-line. This movie keeps you guessing until the very end.

8. Wall-E
Every year Pixar comes out with more astounding movies. However one has found a place in my heart and will always have that place. Wall-E has touched the hearts of so many people with his compassionate existence as well as his hilarious habits.

7. The Sixth Sense

No matter how terrible M. Night Shyamalan’s recent movies continue to get, The Sixth Sense was an amazing movie and the plot was brilliantly written. Hell, I sometimes think I am dead because everyone I talk to never directly responds to me. Either that or I just suck.

6. Donnie Darko
This movie has been debated to have no rational story, but it is interpreted to have such a deep meaning. If there’s any movie to keep you guessing as to what the fuck is going on it’s this one.

5. Butterfly Effect
Easily my personal favorite psychothriller on the market, this movie actually makes sense and comes full circle. It’s easy to decipher the meaning unlike Donnie Darko or The Jacket. Ashton Kutcher’s performance is very intense.

4. Se7en
This movie is a rollercoaster on PCP, it takes you through so many mazes and then the end is so intriguing and the story is masterfully written. Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman make an exciting duo.

3. District 9
If you want to watch a movie that will make you feel bad for alien segregation and prejudice, check into District 9. This movie is scary because of how realistic it seems. You take a science fiction story and blend it with reality instead of taking science fiction and making a world that’s far from the norm. This movie’s direction is a  master piece.

2. Gattaca
As you can tell I love sci-fi that can be applied to the future in a realistic and believable way. Gattaca achieves this in every manner possible save for the space travel to a planet far away. However, producing genetically superior humans goes back to Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World. It’s the future…

1. James Cameron’s Avatar 3D
Technology is improving at an amazingly exponential rate. Avatar is proof of this. 3D is the future of movies and Avatar is the real beginning. This movie takes the first place because of the realistic environment developed from nothing. The story takes you in a world as artificially exciting as Star Wars did. The main feeling I had while watching this movie was that Earth is now insignificant and I would love to live on Pandora and link with a Thanator or something. Everyone should experience this movie at least once.
