[The Top Five] Covers Recorded By My Morning Jacket

As I’ve stated in past posts, I have developed a borderline obsession with My Morning Jacket. Because of their nearly flawless blend of a vast array of musical styles, no other band not named Wilco has any right to suggest itself as America’s best band of the moment.

But aside from their amazing musical catalog, I have discovered in recent months the band also has an impressively extensive list of covers. While I suspect it’s of little interest to anyone else (you know, like everything I write), I’ve compiled a list of my five favorites.

[The Top Five] Reasons Not to Dump Your Wii Just Because Nintendo Announced the 3DS

The title pretty much says it all.

Ever since the announcement of the 3DS, some Nintendo fans have been bringing up a silly argument in message boards. They feel, for whatever reason, that because the 3DS has 3D, superior graphical capabilities, and tilt and gyro control just like the Wii, that Nintendo’s current home system is inadequate and deserves to be pulled from their entertainment system shelves and tossed in the garbage.

What?

Here are just five reasons why everyone who has made that argument needs to step back, take a breath, and reevaluate their stance.

Five Nintendo DS Games Everyone Should Own

Now that the Nintendo DSi is available, gamers everywhere are picking up their first dual screen gaming system and diving into the wonderful world of the Nintendo DS. With an overwhelmingly huge library of games, however, it’s easy for gamers to get lost when trying to pick out the right titles.

Below are five titles that everyone with a DS, any model, should own. Keep in mind the games on this list are five of the games that I believe every gamer with a DS should own, not a list of the five best DS games. If you have a different selection of games, feel free to call me an idiot, or, preferably, leave your games of choice in the comments section! Continue reading

The Top Five: Reasons Bob from Bob’s Game Needs to Shut his Mouth

welcometobobsgame1For those of you who don’t know, Bob’s Game was a Nintendo DS game made by one person. He put over 5 years into developing what looked to be a promising and fun game with an awesome premise. It really is a marvel that he, by himself, created such an interesting title when most big developers can’t get anywhere near that. But he went about the development process all wrong and Nintendo was forced to turn him away. Which could’ve been resolved eventually if he didn’t go all Axl Rose (insane) on the world and throw a series of fits and post countless hate articles on his blog. Bob, here’s why you should shut your mouth.

The Top Five: Things I got for Xmas

This is the first addition to a new article I plan to start doing regularly called The Top Five. It’s obviously articles that are basically top 5 lists of any subject at all put together with pictures and my reasoning of why it deserves the spot it did. Since it’s right after Christmas, I figured the perfect thing to do would be writing a The Top Five on things I got from the Fat Man in Red and let all my readers write a little 5 item list of their own! So here it goes, The Top Five: Things I got for Xmas!

5. Energizer Wii Controller Charger:
For a long time I was content with my Nyko Charge Station. It worked really well and I enjoyed the rubber padding on the replacement wii chargercontroller backs. But as of recently it’s been having trouble charging my controllers, and those rubber pads I once loved make it a pain in the ass to use the Wii Zapper, which is a pain in the ass itself, or play Guitar Hero since it adds extra bulk to the Wiimote which keeps it from fitting in the Zapper or guitar controller. It’s about time to update and this is a great product to replace the old one with. It’s far more sleek and sexy, and replaces those uncomfortably bright blue l.e.d.’s from Nyko’s charger with soft green lights to indicate a fully charged batter. An overall superior product.

The Top Fives are Coming!

I just finished Googling myself, sad I know, and I found some of the old articles I did when I wrote for a gaming website called Aeropause. One of the things I found that I remembered being my favorite was an editorial called The Top Five. I did all kinds of things from The Top Five: Gaming Consoles to The Top Five: The Legend of Zeldas. Man, those were good days. But the future looks much better!

You guys can look forward to my first The Top Five in well over 2 years. It should be up later today, but I just might hold out until tomorrow. It all depends on how busy I am.
