[Energy Shot Review] Mr. Energy 8-Hour Shot

Overview:

8hourshotWhen it comes to energy shots, five hours is usually the accepted amount of time a boost should last. But why? Work shifts aren’t five hours. School days aren’t five hours. Why settle for around half of what you want when there is a product out there that can give you exactly what you need.

Ladies and gentlemen, the 8-Hour Energy Shot, formulated to last all day long with no traceable crash. Can this little bottle really deliver on such huge promises? We’re about to find out, because it’s review time!

Review:

Upon twisting the cap off of an 8 Hour Energy Shot, the consumer will find a delightfully sweet berry aroma. Very light and slightly fruity, actually a little reminiscent of grape, and moderately appetizing. There are no chemical or obviously artificial traits to be found when analyzing the simple and satisfying aroma. Definitely one of the better smelling energy shots I’ve had.

Now on to taste. Energy shots vary wildly when it comes to their flavor and texture, as they are relatively new items and are still progressing through evolution. Some shots are as thick as cough syrup and taste even worse, some shots will make you cough and choke, and you’ll often times regret putting something so terrible in your mouth. Then there are shots that are just right. Very thin textures that go down super easy, with a light and refreshing flavor that dissipates to leave behind a sweet aftertaste, serving as a memory of the tasty treat you just drank.

I’m pleased to say that 8 Hour is definitely the latter mentioned. It is one of the smoothest drinking shots on the market, with a refreshing Acai Berry flavor and a surprisingly pleasant aftertaste. It doesn’t get much better than this shot right here. But that’s not to say it isn’t without its flaws, of course. While in your mouth, you will notice the sweet flavor I already mentioned, but you will also experience a slightly bitter taste. It isn’t a deal breaker by any means, and it’s actually surprisingly subtle, but it’s still there.

Now it’s time for the mysterious Mr. Energy to put his money where his mouth is. Does this little shot really deliver eight full hours of uninterrupted energy? Not quite, sadly. While I never felt a buzz that lasted a full eight hours, though, I did notice a substantial increase in my energy level for a solid seven before finally tapering down, a good couple of hours more than what the competition offers. The kick is solid as well, one of the most uplifting and satisfying boosts I’ve ever obtained from a shot.

8 Hour also performs above par in terms of value as well. This shot comes packaged in the standard 2 0z single serving container for around $3.50, and for that price you are getting at least seven solid hours of an extremely satisfying boost. It’s roughly the same price as a 5-Hour Energy Shot but lasts a few hours longer, making it a much better deal.

Final Words:

Mr. Energy 8-Hour Energy Shot is one of the smoothest-drinking, best tasting, most satisfying energy shots I have ever had. The clean flavor and smooth aroma blend wonderfully to create a unique drinking experience that doesn’t leave you with a medicinal aftertaste or burn. The kick may not last a full 8 hours, but it does a solid seven before starting to wear off. Highly recommended.

  1. Cool Randy drinks the shots on occasion. I however don’t really care for them. But I will tell him to try this one the next time he has to open and we have to get up at 5am 😛

  2. I, with a burning passion, HATE 5-Hour energy simply because of their advertising campaign that attacks energy drinks. You should review those commercials.

If I ever see this, I’ll pick it up for sure, just to give 5 Hour’s competition more support, in all honesty.
