Review: Amp Energy Focus

Overview:

Earlier this week we reviewed Lightning, a drink with disappointing attributes all around yet provided a monstrous kick that was, admittedly, short lived and followed by a mild crash. Now we’ve got yet another new flavor from Amp, Focus. The drink’s flavor is Blast of Mixed Berry which sounds delicious. But Lightning’s lemonade flavoring also got us excited just to turn out tart, bitter, and artificial. Does Focus prove to be an Amp product finally worth buying or does it slip into mediocrity with most of its sister drinks?

Straight from the can:

Bring your mind to a whole new level to keep connected, focused, and alert. Sharpen your game – The power of Amp Energy with a Blast of Mixed Berry and a kick of L-Theanine.

Sounds promising, but what the hell is L-Theanine?

amp-energy-elevate-focusReview:

L-Theanine is an amino acid which has been shown to relieve stress, both mental and physical, and when combined with caffeine can produce feelings of relaxation as well produce a better mood. So Amp uses it to help you relax so you can focus more without getting all anxious and whatnot. So wait a minute, this is making me think of Neuro Fuel. Now I’m scared.

But before we start to make judgements, let’s take a look at the drink’s aroma. Delightful just about sums it up. It’s a soft scent that reminds me of some of my favorite childhood candies, like those big gummy feet. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, shut up. They’re real I swear to God. Anyway, the berry smell is very aromatic and delightfully pleasant.

And it tastes fantastic too. Say goodbye to the throat-burning sensation and teeth-stinging pain associated with most other Amp products and say hello to a wonderful soft flavor that quenches your thirst and can be easily pounded down for quick boosts of energy. Speaking of energy…

The kick is great. It doesn’t leave you jittery or tingly, instead relaxes you and actually increases endurance. The kick isn’t very powerful or long-lasting, as is usual with Amp products, but it leaves little to no crash and really helps you focus, just like the can says.

One 16 oz contains 2 servings and sells for the industry standard SRP of $1.99. The uplifting kick and delightful taste give extra points to the value.

Final Words

Say hello to the best Amp Energy product on the market. Focus somehow solves almost all complaints about many of Amp’s lackluster products and presents itself as a truely original breed of energy drink. Too bad it’ll get pushed to the side by most consumers and rejected as nothing more than a spin-off of the original. Hopefully this review convinces more people to buy this fantastic drink, it really is worth your money.

Pros

  • L-theanine
  • Wonderful aroma
  • Delicious berry flavor
  • Solves just about all other Amp ailments

Cons

  • Will likely go unnoticed by many consumers
