Review: eRev Obscene Energy

eRev Obscene EnergyOverview:

eRev Obscene Energy is a smaller known supplement made by an oil company. Yeah, I’m not kidding. Now I’ve had some bad experiences with unknown brands of beverages, like Gazzu. I’ve also had some rather enjoyable supplements attained through taking risks, namely with Venom. So is eRev a horrible concoction or a wonderful discovery?

Straight from the can:

WARNING! This can contains enough energy to raise your intensity to a whole new level! When you’re out of fuel and need a quick fillup, open a can of eREV Obscene Energy Drink. The high-octaine combination of taurine and vitamin B12 will jumpstart your engine into hyperdrive. Then, the harcore driving buzz will take you from empty to extreme in no time. Ask yourself this first:

Can you handle the rush?

Review:

Have you ever smelled something that you swear you know what it is but you can’t quite put your finger on it so you ask your friends and they all say something different from what you’re thinking and you don’t agree with any of them? that’s the exact experience you’ll find with eRev. I thought it smelled like marshmallows. My girlfriend thought it smelled like cream soda. Some other people thought it smelled like fruit. So have no idea what it smells like. But I do know that it smells sweet and delicious.

The taste is very reminiscent of Full Throttle, only a little bit sweeter and slightly less salty. Is it better? Not exactly, but it’s still pretty good. It also has that feeling of familiarity that you just can’t place your finger on. Regardless, it’s a smooth, sweet taste that leaves no aftertaste or medicinal burn.

On the kick frontier eRev performs decently, but not excellently. While it does deliver a positive kick that doesn’t leave you shaky and awkward feeling, the kick is somewhat subtle. You’ll feel it, but it’s very slight and not all that satisfying.

Obscene Energy comes in your standard 16 oz can but for a value price of around $1.79, and with the industry standard seeming to move to $2.13 for some reason this brings the value up considerably.

Final Words:

Obscene is a good drink that I can recommend to anyone who likes to try new energy drinks. It has a familiar taste that closely resembles some of the big name drinks but doesn’t slaughter it like the Monster rip-off known as Gazzu did. Man that stuff sucks. Anyway, the only thing that really annoys me is the extremely generic tribal tattoo design all over the can. Lame.

Pros

  • Decent aroma
  • Familiar, sweet taste
  • Inexpensive

Cons

  • Generic product description
  • Generic logo
  • Generic design

Scores:

Overall: 7.6/10 (Above Average)

Aroma: 7.5/10 (Sweet)
Taste: 8.0/10 (Like a sweeter Full Throttle)
Kick: 6.5/10 (A positive kick, just too subtle)
Value: 8.5/10 (With prices rising, the value price as really appreciated)

  2. I never even noticed this sitting on the shelf until this morning and I read this yesterday. I guess it really must be generic, or I’m sure it wouldve grabbed my attention even a little. Anyway I’m drinking this now and its pretty good shit.

    Thanks!

  3. Hey dude, good reviews. You really made me want to get some energy drinks. lol

Anyways, I was just going to ask if you could review the energy drinks called No Fear, and Savage, if you can find them. If you could review them that would be sweet.

  4. @Marc

Glad you like the site, man. And I’ll get around to doing No Fear and Savage eventually. I’ve got like… 6 Energy drink reviews in the works right now, so I’m pretty busy! Just keep checking back and I’ll get to those drinks whenever I can!

  5. This shit IS good! I bought it because it was buy one get one or something like that and I was pleasantly surprised. I got one of these and the grape. The grape wasn;t that good, unfortunately. But this one is pretty good.

  6. my friend says it tastes like liquid candy.

i love the stuff, drinking some right now.

at Thorton’s, they are always buy one get one free for 2 dollars. much cheaper than any other drink, and it still tastes great.

  7. I loved eRev. I got my first try free of charge. I thought it smelled like Grapefruit, but that’s also with NOS too. I loved it, and I want more!

  8. love erev every time i stop at thortans i grab a couple (two for $3), i think the taste and smell reminds me of sweet tarts with a small hint of banana. they also came out with a sugar free version, an orange, and a grape, but they taste like shit. the original erev is probably my favorite tasting energy drink on the market, but they are only in select stores. (thortans) they need to talk to a big distributer so they can be sold in every store.

  9. Lol marshmellows ? I dont smell it! Grapefruit, yes. I have been drinkin these since they came out. $2 for 2 you cant beat it ! But I cant find the caffeine content anywhere online! Can someone help me out there? Great site, great reviews!
